What's with the site switch?

This site is running as an experiment on Ghost, a platform for hosting blogs and newsletters.

I'm using it instead my own custom self-hosted blogs (above) because it has a number of technical features that I want to explore and don't want to take the time to add to my existing platforms. Things like search, comments, limiting access to a specific set of users, an option to send posts out via email, and so on.

A few key bits:

  • Ghost is built to allow monetization, namely via paid subscriptions. I have no plans to ever monetize Explorations. It's just a convenient way to share. So if you see stuff about "subscribe", feel free. All that means is you may get email updates when I add a new post. It doesn't mean you're going to be on the hook to pay Yet Another Monthly Subscription Cost...
